Dune 3 Emperor Battle For Dune

The game that created real-time strategy returns with another take on Frank Herbert's novel, DUNE. Choose one of three houses to control throughout the noble Atreides, the reclusive House Ordos, or the evil House Harkonnen. Each house has its own strengths and liabilities, and each can form alliances with different sub-houses. All of the battles take place on five unique planets, and each is rendered in full 3D. As per usual with the series, the object of the game is to mine as much Melange "spice" as possible, but doing so will require excellent resource management and sharp combat skills.

This game is considered by many to be one of the most realistic and difficult racing simulators. RBR was not made to be moddable, but despite this there are mods available due to a very strong online community. The game was originally an offline racing game but user created mods have enabled online play. A sequel to the game is unlikely, due to the death of Richard Burns in 2005. In addition, after the PC release, Warthog was sold to Gizmondo, who went bankrupt in 2006. Since the release, the publisher SCi has been bought by Eidos Interactive.

Age of Empires II

It would be incorrect, but not entirely unreasonable, to claim that Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings and its isometric 2D playing field seem just like every other first-generation real-time strategy game ever made. Take away the historical context depicting a millennium of military progress since the Dark Ages, and you'd have a game in which you'd stockpile resources, grow your population, and augment your technology, all to amass an army with which to defeat your enemies as quickly as possible. But even as this model has remained historically relevant for as long as history has been documented, so too is it not liable to stop being the premise for computer games anytime soon. And if Age of Kings is any indication of how such real-time strategy games will continue to improve, then we couldn't be more fortunate.

Medal Of Honor: Airborne

Description
In Airborne, the player assumes the role of Private First Class Boyd Travers, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, and later the 17th Airborne Division, of the United States Army during World War II. Travers's insertion is into major engagements in Italy, northern France, the Netherlands and Germany.

The game begins in 1943 with a drop into a small walled village as part of Operation Husky, the costly Allied invasion of Sicily. It is followed by Operation Avalanche, the invasion of mainland Italy, where Travers is inserted into an operation near the Greek ruins of Paestum. These ruins were used by the Axis as a staging area to counterattack the advancing Allies from the beaches of Salerno. The 82nd Airborne is then airdropped into France during the morning hours of June 6, 1944 as part of Operation Neptune. During this, Travers is part of the paratrooper force dropped inland the night before the Normandy beach invasion to clear the infantry's path into France. The player is able to see the Utah Beach landings of Operation Overlord while in the air. Travers then drops into the Netherlands as part of Operation Market Garden, General Montgomery's failed plan to secure routes through Holland enabling a push into Germany. Largely featured is the partly destroyed city of Nijmegen and the attempt to secure the bridge over the Waal River for the Allies. The game's finale takes place during Operation Varsity, which sees Travers parachuting alongside 30,000 soldiers into Germany in the single largest military airdrop in history. A limited training mission is available at the beginning of the game, which takes place in Tunisia, during Operation Torch.

Originally, the player was to have a second role as pathfinder Eddie La Point, resulting in a jump into each mission twice as the two different characters, and having different objectives. The pathfinders dropped around an hour before the bulk of the airborne force, and had the job of marking the drop zone, setting up the Eureka transponding device guiding the C-47 pilots, and finding any areas of opportunity in the vicinity. As development of the game progressed, it became evident that splitting up the missions wasn’t working, and the decision was made to merge some of the pathfinder objectives into the current missions, and use the single character of Boyd Travers.
